The annual Inter Senior Secondary School Sports competitions in the provinces ended recently in Bansang CRR.
The championship, which gathered six Senior Secondary Schools, was won by the Brikama Ba Senior Secondary School while the host, Bansang Senior Secondary, claimed the second position.
The competition, which was marked by both tract and field events, attracted thousand of people.
According Mr. Ebrima Sabally, the Divisional Sports Co-ordinator for Central River Region, the competition was meant to prepare the schools for the forthcoming National Inter-Senior Secondary School championship to be held later this month at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. “Actually we are very grateful to all the participating schools for demonstrating a true spirit of sports, as everything went smooth and no problem was reported from either side” said Mr. Sabally.
In a related development, Bansang Secondary School recently held its inter-house athletics competitions at the town field.
For the first time in the history of the schools both Bansang Upper and senior schools, under one administration, took part in the events.
In an interview with Pointsport, the principal of the school, Mr. Ismaila Ceesay, expressed satisfaction with the level of the competition and noted that the championship is part of the normal school activity.
“We need to support students who are good in sports as it’s all part of the learning process,” he said.
