Gambia to participate at the Parade of Queen Scouts

Ms Therese Bass and Momodou M Jallow from the Gambia Scouts Association have been selected to represent The Gambia at the Parade of Queen Scouts to be held in Winsor Castle from 20th-23rd April, 2007.

Speaking to the Daily Observer, Alieu Momarr Njie, Chief Scout Commissioner, said the Scout Association of UK invited participants from The Gambia Scouts Association to participate in the parade.

According to him, the participants will be among those who will be honoured to meet the Queen of England during this occasion. He added that this event which takes place every year brings together all Commonwealth Member Countries from different parts of the world.

Mr. Njie revealed that there was a contingent of six scout participants from The Gambia last year that attended the ceremony, adding that their trip was fully sponsored by President Yahya Jammeh, who is the Chief Scout of the Gambia Scout Association. He thanked President Jammeh for that wonderful support given to the Association.

Therese Bass one of the participants from The Gambia Scout Association expressed delight at this trip noting that she will learn a lot of Scouting activities, skills and experience.

Momodou M Jallow also expressed similar sentiments and thanked the British High Commissioner in The Gambia for issuing them with visas. He advised his colleagues to be discipline, hardworking and obey the Scout laws.

Miss Therese Bass and Momodou M Jallow are expected to return back home on 6th May, 2007.
