Sheikh Omar Faye, Secretary of State for Youth, Sport and Religions Affairs, accompanied by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Chairman of NYSS Board of Directors and heads of satellite institutions, on Sunday embarked on a nationwide tour of institutions under his purview.
SOS Faye said the main aim of the tour is to reactivate the NYSS regional committees and all other relevant structures on the ground, as well as mobilise moral support to Operation Canada. “The tour”, he said, will also give them the opportunity to visit all regional youth and sports centers and to discuss with the young people about the importance of acquiring life skills so as to live a decent life.
SOS Faye said President Yahya Jammeh has created an enabling environment, noting that it’s now left with the young people to take charge of their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the country.
“The young people”, he said, have important role to play in the development of the country. “They are the future leaders and therefore, should begin to think positively,” SoS Faye observed.
SoS Faye and his entourage will visit Basse, Bansang, Sapu, Pakalinding, Farafenni and Soma, before wrapping up the tour on Wednesday in Kerewan.
