This is the biggest ever fundraising strategy employed by the GFA Marketing Committee under the auspices of the GFA First Vice-President and Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Col Lang Tombong Tamba.
“Yes we will bring Assane Ndiaye come May 25, 26 and 27,” Alhagi Conteh, member of the committee told Observer Sports. He said May 25 will be the Gala Dinner while the Dance and Show will follow on May 26 and 27 respectively. Mr. Conteh said the three-day event will be dedicated to the President of The Republic and number one fan of the Darling Scorpions, Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh.
Miss U-20 Beauty Contest
There will also be a beauty contest to select Miss U-20. The Beauty pageant, according to Mr. Conteh, will be held on the day of the Gala Dinner, May 25.
Col Lang Tombong Tamba, Chairman of the Marketing Committee said national teams are national assets. He called on everyone to come and throw their weight behind the team. He added that the ongoing fund-raising initiative-Vote Your Darling Player, is one of the platforms where every Gambian can contribute directly to the funding of the team to Canada.
Jammeh Bojang, Secretary-General of the GFA said D7 Million is needed to send the U-20 team to Canada. “As at now the budget to send the team to a training camp and Canada finals stands at D7 Million. So we need the support of the public to realise this huge amount,” he said.
