Ansumana Bojang, the first defence witness, in the on-going alleged murder case of Ron Ford, a Briton, yesterday testifed before Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo, of the Kanifing Magistrates Court, involving Dawda Bojang and Kawsu Colley.
Mr. Bojang, in his testimony told the court that he lives with the first accused person, Dawda Bojang, his uncle and wife. He added that he does not know Ron Ford, a Briton, who was alleged to have been killed by Dawda Bojang and Kawsu Colley. He revealed that the first accused introduced him to a British friend call Peter.
Mr. Bojang told the court that the vehicle and the property, in Kerr Serign, belong to Dawda Bojang, adding that Ron Ford was never a friend to his brother (Dawda). He said the first accused Dawda did not know the second accused; neither is he a friend to him.
He noted that he knew the second accused at the Kairaba Police Station after his arrest. He testified that the two police investigators, Pateh Bah and Musa Mboob, asked him to accompany them to his mother, Aja Nanding Camara. He said the two officers suggested to him that his mother should give them a sum of D10, 000 that is said to have belonged to the deceased, Ron Ford, to enable them to withdraw the case against the first accused person.
He finally told the court that his mother gave the investigators the said amount of money, who failed to honour their promise.
At this juncture, Raichel Mendy, the Counsel for the first accused person, told the court that the witness would not be able to identify the said D10, 000 before the court. She added that she was informed that the said sum of money is believed to be missing.
Mr. Sambou, the Registrar at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, when called to clarify the matter, told the court that he is aware of the missing D10, 000 which was tendered in court and marked as exhibit B. He said he did not know whether the said exhibit B, is in connection to this case.
