Intermediate Football Coaching Course Wraps up

A two week intermediate Football coaching course, organized by the Gambia Football Association in collaboration with the Gambia National Olympic Committee and funded by Olympic Solidarity for 30 coaches drawn from divisional and regional teams, ended on Friday at the National Technical Training Center in Old Yundum.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on Friday, the course Director Detlive Bruggermann pointed out that the course aimed at further developing the techniques and skills of the local coaches for the advancement of the game.

“Football is not only a matter of result or winning titles but a social responsibility and Football is the best Sport in the World and it is the duty of the coaches to give young kids the ideas of learning how to behave within society,” he said.

For his part the Director for Youth and Sports, Alhagie Sait Mbye revealed that it is the responsibility of the coaches to develop the game of Football in the whole country. He said that coaches are the protocols and is their duty to deliver their knowledge to the young ones for the betterment of the game.

The second vice-president of the Gambia Football Association, Alhagie Mass Axi Gai, who deputised for GFA President Seedy MB Kinteh, said that Football is a professional activity.

“It is our duty to continue learning so that it will help us to perform, develop our Football for a long term,” he said.

Mr. Gai added that Gambia is like a flowering in Football and it is the responsibility of the coaches to create the roots.
