The latest to join the list of patriotic donors were Total (Gambia) Company and Gambia school children. The petroleum dealers, yesterday, gave out a cheque for D100,000 (hundred thousand) to the Department of State for Youth, Sports & Religious Affairs as its contribution towards the campaign.

lbert Roger Boum, Managing Director of Total, said, they are proud to be associated with Gambian sports steerers in a bid to develop sports in the country. He spoke of the significance of Gambia U-20 team’s participation in the FIFA World Cup, and urged the general public to lend their hands to ensure the team’s successful participation.

Receiving the cheque, the SoS for Youth, Sports & Religious Affairs, Mr. Sheikh Omar Faye, hailed Total for their foresight. He said such a gesture will ensure the team’s early departure for the second most prestigious football tournament on the globe.

In a similar development, school children from both Lower and Upper basic schools across the country, made a collective donation of D56,000 (fifty six thousand dalasis), as their contribution towards the campaign.

Mass Axi Gye, Second Vice President of the Gambia Football Association, received the amount on behalf of the Football Association.
