Interior Goalkeeper Assaults Central Referee

It was a dramatic scene last Friday at the Serekunda East Mini Stadium when the goalkeeper of Interior FC, Blaise Lama, punched central referee M.O. Njie.

The unpleasant action occurred at the Serekunda East Mini Stadium last Friday during the Second Division league match between Interior FC and Tallinding United in week six encounters.

All happened when the central referee M.O. Njie show a yellow card to goalkeeper Blaise Lama for time wasting in the additional minutes of play but the goalkeeper was not happy with the referee’s decision and released some abusive language on him.

The central referee decided to send him off and to show his anger goalkeeper Blaise Lama punched the referee on his chest

Goalkeeper Blaise Lama’s action was witnessed by some top Football referees and spectators who all condemned the action

This is a clear demonstration that Gambian players need to learn the laws of the game of Football and it is the duty of the coaches to educate their players against such unpleasant attitudes.
