Two Chiefs Retired, One Terminated

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Both Mr. Fafanding Darboe of Jarra East and Haruna Sabally of Jarra Central have been retired by the Department of State for Local Government and Lands, as chiefs.

The two chiefs, who had been long serving chiefs, got their retirement orders late last week.

The Point reliably gathered that Darboe has been replaced by one Ansumana Kanagi, a native of Jarra Sutukung and a staff member of the Public Works Department (PWD) based in Mansakonko, while Sabally has been replaced by Momodou L Ceesay, the APRC defeated candidate in the recent National Assembly elections. Ceesay is a native of Jarra Jappeanni.

In a related development, Samba Lau Ceesay, the Seyfo of Niamina Dankunku, has had his services terminated. He has since been replaced by Mr. Alhagie Kebba Ceesay, a former officer of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
