Tuesday, May 29, 2007

The sedition trial of a Gambian journalist Fatou Jaw Manneh could not precede yesterday as the Director of Public Prosecution, Emmanuel Fegbenle applied for an adjournment

When the case was called before Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, informed the court that the defence for the accused (Lamin Jobarteh) had informed him that his car got a breakdown while on his way from the provinces.

In this light, the acting Director of Public Prosecution Emmannuel Fagbenle applied for an adjournment in order for the defence to attend the next hearing and to continue cross examining (PWl).

Magistrate Buba Jawo, then granted the DPP’s application and therefore adjourned the matter to the 1st June, 2007.
