Bonu’s selection sparks mixed emotions

Peter Bonu Johnson’s final list of players to the second most prestigious football championships on the globe has received mixed feelings from the U-20 camp and football fraternity as a whole, Observer Sports can reveal.

Most of the U-20 players currently in camp were gripped by shock and panic when the final list, which excluded reliable players like Saja Leigh, Habib Kunta and Demba Sanyang, was formally announced on Saturday night at the team’s Paradise Suites camp.

Football pundits also resolved into a bitter debates as the news spread into town.

“Despite being selected in the final list, I am least happy that some key players like Saja Leigh have been dropped for no obvious reason. Saja Leigh and Habib Kunta have been on their peak since our return from Congo finals and they unarguably form a central part of the team. I think Bonu Johnson need to reconsider his decision before it’s too late,” a player who was deservingly included in the final list told Observer Sports yesterday under the conditions of anonymity.

A concerned football coach also stressed that Bonu Johnson’s selection is far from being fair. “Bonu’s selection was very bias. I can see many injured players being included in the team at the expense of injury-free and talented players like Saja Leigh. Bonu has manifested that he is incapable of handling the U-20 team,” said the devastated coach.
