Tuesday, May 8, 2007

Following a two-month intensive competition, the National Inter departmental Sports Association (NISA) Football championship has finally reached climax with the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) taking on the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in the final stated for a date to be announced later.

The NAWEC boys made it to the final following their one nil victory over Kombo Beach Hotel in a well attended match played at the Abuko Min Stadium last Saturday.

In the analysis of the game, both teams featured impressive performance in the first half but could not hit the back of the nets.

Upon resumption in the second half, NAWEC dominated the game resulting to their only goal scored in the 75th minute through Badara Loum.

In the other semi final played on Sunday, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) booked their ticket to the final after eliminating The Police team 4-3 in post- match penalty kicks.

The scores were one-one at the end of a normal ninety minutes of play.

Lamin Kijera opened the score for the Police in the 28th minute. With their one nil lead, Police dominated the game through out the second half but GCAA managed to equalise in the 83rd minute due to a very poor goalkeeping from the Police goalkeeper.

It could be recalled that the tournament, organised by the National Inter-departmental Sports Association (NISA) is geared towards fostering the relationship among workers in the country.
