The Gambia Athletics team returned home last week with the VI solidarity athletics Championship title.
The championship, held in Guinea-Bissau from the 2nd to the 3rd June 2007, was attended by five countries namely Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea Conakry and The Gambia.
After the two day intensive competition, The Gambia came out victorious with a total of 26 medals: 11 Gold, 5 Silver and 10 Bronze followed by Senegal with 12 medals: 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze.
The host Guinea Bissau managed to win 17 medals: 3 Gold, 10 Silver and 4 Bronze, Mauritania collected only one Gold medal while Guinea Conakry closed the table with 2 Bronze medals.
