Mamudou Max Jallow, Development Officer at the National Sports Council (NSC), recently returned home after bagging a Master of Science Degree in Sports Leisure and Business Management at the University of Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom.
Jallow’s two-year intensive studies were sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC).
In an interview with Observer Sports shortly after his arrival, Jallow expressed his delight at the new stage in his sporting career. He described the two-year studies as a resounding success.
He said he decided to come back home in order to contribute his quota to the promotion and development of sports in the country.
He said: “Having studied different fields in sports management, I am of the firm belief that I can help promote and develop Gambian sports with efficiency. I returned home because I want to help in the promotion and development of sports in The Gambia. During the course of my studies in the United Kingdom, I did not specialise on a specific sporting discipline, but experience covers all sporting discipline, some of which are not even practice in The Gambia.”
He said his first-step towards realising his dream is to renew his commitment with the National Sports Council. He said the realisation of his dream will largely depend on the availability of sufficient fund at the council, as according to him, the present financial situation of the council is not encouraging.
Jallow heaped praises on the Gambia National Olympic Committee and its parent body for their financial and moral support during the course of his studies. He also commended his employers, National Sports Council for their support.
