Senior Squad Move to Camp

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

The Gambia National senior squad better know as Scorpions moved to camp last night ahead of their crucial African Nations Cup qualifiers in Praia on Saturday against Cape Verde.

According to the assistant coach of the team, Lamin Sarr, the team moved to camp at the Paradise Suites Hotel last night after their training session at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Coach Lamin Sarr revealed that Mustapha Jarju alias Tubabo has already joined the team in Banjul and they are expecting the arrival of Abou Jammeh alias TBoy.

Coach Sarr pointed out that all the players that traveled to Conakry last week are in the group except Lamin Conateh alias Babayeh who returned to his club for a game last week end but would join the team before their departure to Praia.

It could be recalled that The Gambia Senior team last week held the Syli National of Guinea to a 2-2 draw at the 28 September Stadium in Conakry.

The draw kept the Gambia’s chance of making to their first ever-African Nations Cup Finals appearance.

With a victory in Praia on Saturday against Cape Verde, another in Banjul against Algeria in September and a draw between Algeria and Guinea in Algiers next week would see The Gambia realising their dream of making it to Ghana 2008.
