New Niani Chief sworn in

Alhagie Mulai Janneh, the Governor for the Central River Region last Saturday 9th June, presided over the swearing in and flag raising ceremony of the new Chief of Niani Pierre Bah, at his village Jammagen. 

Pierre Bah received his acknowledgement letter as the Chief of Niani in May 2007. Seyfo Bah’s appointment came following the demise of the former Chief, Alhagie Malick Ndow, who served as the head chief for seven years.
Pierre Bah is the sixth Chief of Niani. He was born in 1964 and he is the youngest chief to rule Niani.

In his speech, Governor Janneh called the people of Niani to support the new Chief in his duties. He called on the Chief to serve the people of Niani efficiently and effectively without fear or favour. He advised them to maintain their loyalty to President Jammeh and the APRC party.
The Governor for URR Omar Khan, who also witnessed the ceremony, urged those who have applied for the chieftancy and were not selected to give their full support to the appointed ones and work with him in the development of the district. He advised them to put aside their differences and work as a family for the interest of the people.

The Governor for LRR Momodou Soma Jobe who administered the Oath of Office and secrecy for the Chief advised him to have mercy on the people of Niani and work diligently in the interest of the community.
The Desk Officer of CRR Hon Sainey Mbaye urged the people to help Pierre Bah, in order to function effectively. He further implored on them to strengthen their support for President Jammeh and the APRC party.

Bakary Jam Jawo, Chief of Janjangbureh called on the people of Niani to rally behind President Jammeh and the APRC party.  He advised them to maintain their unity and cooperation for the development of the area.
Other speakers included APRC divisional chairman Alhagie Baboucar Jobe, chairman council of elders Alhagie Abdou aNdow, Aja Yama Cham, Alhagie Sozzy Kanteh and the occasion was chaired by the National Assembly Member for Niani Hon Ebrima Manneh. The ceremony was attended by the Chiefs, Council of Elders, APRC militants and the community.
