Sifoe bee-keepers celebrate Tourism Day

Members of the Sifoe Kafo Farm Bee-keepers Association recently celebrated Tourism Day at the village.

Speaking at the ceremony, Manjiki Jabang, President of the association described tourism as very important to the economic development of the country. He said tourists visiting their community have contributed a lot towards the development of their association. “When tourists come, they help us in developing our community and the country,” he said.

Kaddy Badjie, Vice President of Kafo, thanked the operators of West African Tours and Gam-Tours for bringing the visitors to the village. “I cannot count all the support we have received from these tourists”, she said.

The programme was attended by Badara Bajo, Director of the National Environment Association of Gunjur, Ousman Joof of the National Bee-keepers Association, and Aroki Kanteh of Holland. At the end of the ceremony, D5OO.00 was presented to the Imam of the village, Ma Sanneh and a gift of D2000.00 was also presented to Sarjo Jobe, Principal of Sifoe Senior Secondary School while three bags of rice and cash were received by Lamin B. Ceesay, Head Master of Sifoe Lower  Basic School.
