Tamba congratulates Real de Banjul

Brigadier-General Lang Tombong Tamba, First Vice-President of the Gambia Football Association has congratulated the newly crowned champions of the GFA First Division league, Real de Banjul, for the success of the team in the 2007 League Season.
He also heaped praises on other divisional clubs, on behalf of the national football governing body, for their successful participation in the just concluded league season which he described as a keenly contested and competitive one. The GFA No. 2 made these remarks during a marathon interview with Peter Gomez, on Monday.
The Banjul giants, Real de Banjul, have just landed their first league title since 1999-2000 League Season, and Brigadier-General Tamba believes it’s better late than never.
He said for the fact that the league title winner has to be decided in a photo finish, is a testimony of a competitive league season.
Brigadier-General Tamba renewed football association’s principle of “open door policy” for constructive criticism in the good of the game.
“We are open to criticism, but constructive criticisms that will help us take the game to a further height. The football association, in its bid to develop football, will welcome every genuine contribution.” he said.
Alhaji Ousman B Conateh, the Honourary Life President of the Gambia Football Association and founding father of Wallidan FC, also sent his warm congratulate to the management of the team on their resounding success, Bakary Jammeh, Vice-President of Real de Banjul has revealed.
Real de Banjul are levelled on points but an inferior goal difference has dashed Wallidan’s hopes of clinching the title they last won in 2004.
