4H The Gambia Holds National Gathering

Elects New Executive

Approximately 50 representatives from the general membership of 4H The Gambia recently converged at Gissadi village in the Niamina Dankunku District for their annual National Gathering to review the organizations constitution and elect a new board.

The new board is comprised of the following members:

Chairperson – Balla Keita of Kaba Koto 4H – Jokadu; Vice Chairperson – Amat Secka of Jamally 4H – Sami; Secretary, Momodou A. A. Secka – Programme Director FF; Assistant Secretary, Tamba Marong of Jimansarr 4H – Upper Badibu; Treasurer, Isatou Kanteh of Kunting 4H – Sami; Auditor, Alhagi Demba of Bali 4H – Jokadu; Member, Musa Sarjo of Bantang Koto 4H – Niamina; Member, Mamat Khan-Changai 4H – Sami; Member, Tumani Jatta of Sotokoi 4H – Sami; Honorary Member, Musa Samura – Chairperson 4H Almuri Jarumeh Koto.

The constitution of the newly established National 4H Alumni Association was ratified and adopted by the gathering.

On behalf of Mr. Mbemba Fatty, the Chairperson of the National Board of 4H The Gambia, the Programme Director, Mr. Momodou A. A. Secka, took stock of the organization’s activities and other undertakings for 2006 and disclosed the plans for 2007.

The gathering was graced by the Chief of Niamina Dankunku, Samba Law Ceesay, who recognized the good work 4H The Gambia is doing in his district and urged the 4H Youth to be steadfast in their roles and responsibilities and work hard to be self-employed and self-reliant, thus become responsible future leaders in their respective villages and the region at large.

The gathering was chaired by the outgoing Secretary, Mr. Lamin Mbowe.
