Mr. Malle Sall, the Manager of Air Senegal International in The Gambia, has disclosed his company’s initiative to invite four journalists from The Point newspaper, the Daily Observer, City Limits Radio and GRTS plus 11 staff from the 11 travel agencies in the country for a three-day visit to Senegal. Mr. Sall made this disclosure in an interview with this paper.
The visit, he noted, is supposed to be an education tour to Senegal to show Air Senegal International’s appreciation of ticket sales by the 11 travel agencies in the country.
“This year, a remarkable job was done by the travel agencies. We noticed that the travel agencies have increased their sales to 47% better than that of last year, and in this regard, Air Senegal in appreciation of their job well done, has invited them to visit Senegal for three days,” he said.
The gesture, he said, is to encourage staff of travel agencies in the country.
In response to the cause of the decision to extend the invitation to journalists, Mr. Sall stated: “Our relationship with journalists is good. They are our partners. Since 2004, any journalist travelling with Air Senegal to any of their destinations has enjoyed 50% discount on airfares,” adding that in business, success could not be achieved without the press.
We want a better relationship with journalists because they play a major role in society. Air Senegal International in 2001 belonged to the group of Air Maroc in which we collaborate with South Africa Airways, Air France, Royal Air Maroc.”
He added that the four journalists and the eleven staffs of the various travel agencies would visit Dakar, Goree Island and St Louis. The visit, he went on, is from Thursday 9th August to Saturday 11th August.
The Point newspaper will be represented by Ebrima Sawaneh, News editor.
