Scorpions Start Training Today

The technical staff of the Senior National team better known as Scorpions has invited 24 local players to start training today at the Independence Stadium, ahead of the 2008 African Nations Cup qualifiers against Algeria.

According to the assistant coach of the team, Lamin Sarr, the invited players include four players from the Gambia U-20 team that took part in the World Youth Championship held in Canada.

They are: Goalkeeper Joseph Gomez of Wallidan, Ken Malamin Jammeh of Hawks as well as Mandou Bojang and Pa Modou Jagne of GPA.

Coach Sarr added that the invited local players would be joined later by foreign based players ahead of their last match in CAN 2008 qualifiers against Algeria in September 9th, 2007 in Banjul.

Meanwhile Pointsport has gathered that other U-20 players like Ousman Jallow, Abdulie Ken Mansally, Tijan Jaiteh and Ebrima Sohna have also been invited for the game against Algeria.
