Pa Omar Jack has just added another album to his old’s albums. Tune into any of the radio stations to know the people’s favourite.
It will not be anything more than mbalax music. Selection of mbalax music by the DJ will never be completed without hearing Pa Omar fish n chips music on any disk jockey’s list. That is very rare for local mbalax artists to excel and get regular airplay, alongside their Senegalese counterparts.
The 26-year uprising music star is a nephew to mabalax star, Mass Lowe. He seems to be the answer to the myth that mbalax stars from The Gambia are just not good enough by proving them wrong. Pa Omar kicked -off his career, copying Mass and Youssou Ndour to cut out a niche for himself. As a teenager, he went around struggling to get a demo made for him and came to the mercy of producers like Elle Nachif and Kebba Taylor. That was his first studio sample that heard voice on his developing career on record. After years of sampling and research, Pa kept the momentum, yearning to live his dreams and then joined Leon Prom on his hotel performances.
The former television producer, Lamin Manga, who heard him on his ever television first appearance saw his potentiality and later the duo went into partnership. This combination sparked off his career. Thereafter, he went back to the studio, recording jingles and soundtracks for various commercials. Those adverts blow him on air and his name was tagged with his album title, “Fish n Chips”, which becomes a household name.
His newly released album, ‘niniyo’ addressed stigma on people living with HIV/AIDS and with some other hit tracks.
