Sports Journalists Go to Congress August 11

The Gambia Sports Journalists Association (GSJA), the umbrella body responsible for the welfare and training of Sports Journalists in The Gambia, have set their triennial Congress for Saturday August 11, 2007.

According to a press release from the Association the move is part of a constitutional requirement for the executive committee to hold congress at the end of a three year-term of office.
 Article 8 Sub-section 7 of the Association Constitution states that the general body shall meet every three years to hear reports from the President, Secretary General, Finance Secretary and elect a new executive committee for the next three years.

According to the release, Friday 24th, 2007 was agreed on for the congress in a meeting held last Sunday but after further consultations, it was realised that the day would not be favourable as some of the executive committee members including the President would be out of town.

The release added that the congress will hear the reports from the President, General Secretary and Financial Secretary during which a programme of activity for the next one year would be presented to the general Body.
“A new executive committee would be elected into office at the end of the congress.” The release revealed.
All Sports Journalists in The Gambia are encourage to attend inorder to attain a successful congress for the interest of the Association and Sports in general.
