Magistrate Anthony Baldeh of the Basse Magistrates’ Court recently sentenced one Essa Jobarteh to serve a nine-month jail term without any alternative of a court fine.
Essa had admitted responsibility for stealing a pair of trousers, a shirt and D5500 from Saikou Camara of Basse Angalfuta.
He was arrested and subsequently arraigned before magistrate Baldeh following an investigation mounted by the police in the provincial town.
In his plea for mitigation, Essa begged the magistrate to show grace towards him by saving him from going to jail, adding that he was the breadwinner of his family and was married with two children.
