Mr Pap Saine, the Managing Director and Co-publisher of The Point newspaper, left Banjul early Friday morning to attend the Taiwan Africa Summit at the invitation of the ministry of information (GIO) of Taiwan to attend the summit.

Before leaving, Mr Saine, who is also Dean of Reuters news agency in the region of West and Central Africa, expressed gratitude to the Taiwanese Embassy and the government of Taiwan for the invitation.

He further told The Point that such forums between Africa and Asia are necessary, as they will enable leaders of both continents to exchange views and foster more fruitful cooperation.

During the visit, Mr Saine will be taken on a conducted tour of the Taiwanese tourism area, the electronic industry, and will also visit some media houses.
