Prosecution Incapacity Puts off Omar Ndow’s Trial

Monday, September 24, 2007

The trial of the former Managing Director of Gamtel, Mr. Omar Ndow, could not proceed last Wednesday as the prosecution was reported to be indisposed.

When his case was called on Wednesday, Police Prosecutor Inspector Touray told the court that the officer prosecuting the case, ASP Bojang, was sick and would therefore apply for an adjournment. The application was granted.

It could be recalled that ex-Gamtel boss has been standing trial at the Banjul Magistrates Court on two count charges of disobedience to statutory duty contrary to section 115, and abuse of office contrary to section 90 of the criminal code of the Laws of The Gambia 1990.

He is expected back in court on 3rd October 2007.
