The ongoing criminal trial involving Lamin Cham, the UDP Campaign Manager for Serrekunda Central, at the Bundung Magistrates’ court, on Tuesday suffered a setback after being deferred from September 18 to October 9.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 772 Samateh of the Bundung Police Prosecution Unit was to close his case by calling one more witness, but could not continue due to the unavailability of the trial magistrate, Buba Jawo.
Mr Cham, who first appeared in the dock on February 7, before Magistrate Moses Richard, then Magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay, is facing two counts of obstruction and acting in a manner which breached the peace in the community, contrary to Section 230 of the Criminal Code and Section 9 of the 1990 Public Order Act.
It could be recalled that Mr Cham was charged with obstructing one Bubacarr Jabbie, IEC Presiding Officer for the Bunding Borehole polling station (33rd) during the National Assembly elections of January 25. Mr Lamin Cham was also charged for acting in a manner that breached the peace at the same location.
