Reliable sources have it that Mr. Bai Ousman Secka, one of the current Permanent Secretaries at the Department of State for Foreign Affairs, has been appointed Gambia’s Ambassador to USA. He replaces Mr. Dodou Bammy Jagne, who has now been appointed deputy Managing Director of the new Libyan Bank, The Bank of Sahel for Commerce and Investment (BSCI), in which the Gambia government is reported to have a share. The bank is situated at the Sankung Sillah building on Kairaba Avenue.
Mr. Jagne is a trained economist and worked for many years at the Department of State for Finance, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary, before being appointed Gambia’s Ambassador to the US.
Mr. Secka is a trained diplomat, having served as Head of Chancery in Freetown, London and Washington DC.
About three decades in the civil service, Mr. Secka served as Permanent Secretary at the Department of State for Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Health and Defence. He also served as a Commissioner in Lower River Division (LRD) now LRR.
