Universal Sounds System, operated by Omar Njie, a Gambian based in Germany, is currently in the coutry for the setting up of a standard multi-recording studio in Farato, Kombo South, Western Region.

Omar Njie who started his career in music in the late 1980’s as a disc joker, was among the top Gambian music icons before he travelled to Germany in early 1994. He also ran a similar recording studio in Farafenni called Chakubantang records, shortly before he travelled to Germany.

Speaking to What’s On, Mr Njie said he was inspired to operate a studio that will serve as an umbrella to others.

According to him, the reason why he chose Farato for his project, is due to the fact that there are many music pundits in the area  who often find it difficult to access quality music records.

‘’However, it will  also give people the opportunty to record heir own stuff in their own area rather than going far away in search of quality recording studios. So it is in this bid, that I decided to set up a studio that will be easily accessable to these people without much expenses. I am with the firm believe that by the end of this month, the studio will finally start operations,’’ he said.

He maintaind  that, the  materials for the project are currently in the country noting that  the project has already employed two professional DJs namely Fabakary Drammeh alias DJ Badal Chelly and Ousman Drammeh alias DJ Chamalie who are also renowned individuals in the music field.
