WR NDEA O/C Testifies in Drug Trial

The commanding officer for the National Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Region (WR), Mr. Fatou William on Thursday 9thOctober 2008 testified before Principal Magistrate Idrissa Mbye in the ongoing drug trial involving two suspect Musa Badjie and Kabba Njie who were intercepted by NDEA personnel in Mandinaba in connection with drug trafficking.

In her evidence, Mrs. Fatou Faye William cast her mind back to July 2005 when on duty a file was brought to her from Mandinaba station involving the accused persons in connection with drugs. She said upon receiving the file, she recorded their cautionary and voluntary statements in the presence of an independent witness.

After obtaining the cautionary and voluntary statements, it was read all over to the accused persons. He said they all accepted and thumb printed the statements. She said the independent witness also signed and that she herself also signed. Both the cautionary and voluntary statements were tendered in court and marked as exhibits.
