Cattle Rustler Jailed

StartFragment One Abdoulie Faye of Lamin village was recently given a custodial sentence of three months with hard labour by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court for cattle rustling.

According to facts of the case as narrated by the police prosecutor Sgt Camara, the theft happened on 1st September 2008 when the complainant Hawa Jallow brought her ram in the morning for grazing. He revealed that when she returned to the grazing spot in the evening the ram was nowhere to be found, adding that a search was mounted and the matter was later reported to the Abuko police. He said later the police got information that there is someone selling a ram at Abuko at a cheap price which subsequently led to the arrest of the convict.

On his own guilty plea to the offence, he was sentenced accordingly.

In a separate development the trial of Anthony Michael Dobson and his accomplice Mustapha Drammeh, could not proceed recently at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court as the accused persons’ defence counsel, Borry Touray, was said to be out of the jurisdiction.

It could be recalled that the 1st accused Anthony Michael Dobson is charged with defilement of under age girl and pornography, while his accomplice Mustapha Drammeh is charged with procurement of a child for sex purposes.
