Musa Kinteh, a Mobile Bridge Commander at the Gambia Revenue Authority last Monday testified in the ongoing trial at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court of one Mass Jeng, former customs officer.
In his testimony, Mr Kinteh told the court that his role was to supervise all the activities carried out around the border. He recalled some time in the year 2007 when he went to the Giboro customs post to confirm transit documents when he noticed some discrepancy in the record books. He said the accused was supposed to hand over to one Mr Yaya Jammeh but that was not done as he was told by the accused that his car was broken into and some of the receipt books were stolen. He said he asked the accused if the matter was reported to the police and he replied in the affirmative.
According to Mr Kinteh, after frantic efforts to get the police report proved futile, he then reported the matter to the Management.
