He is one of the most vibrant midfielders The Gambia has ever produced. He is a well-known figure in Gambian football and has played for Steve Biko and Real De Banjul in the national first division league.
He was born on March 23rd 1980; The Gambia international Edrissa Sonko completed signing a one year deal on July 27th 2007 following a successful trial spell with Walsall FC in the English League one.
The 27 year old started his career with top Belgian outfit Anderlecht, for whom he made a handful of appearances before landing a big money move to Roda JC in the Dutch top flight. He became a popular figure during his seven years with Roda as he made 132 league appearances linking with Xanthin before Skoda in January 2007 where he had ten outings before realizing his ambition to play in England with a move to the Bank’s Stadium. Capped at international level by Gambia, he is an attack minded mid-field man who is comfortable on both the left and right hand side.
