The Gambia Division One giants, Hawks United, will host in Banjul the FA Cup champions of Senegal, Linguere FC, in an international football friendly scheduled for Sunday, March 2, at the Independence Stadium, Bakau, reports reaching Observer Sports desk have revealed.
Sunday’s friendly match comes on the heels of a similar trip made by the Gambian club to the neighbouring french-speaking country where they lost 0-1 to the host.
Ebrima Dibba, an official of Hawks has told Observer Sports that the friendly is a testimony of a cordial relation that exists between the two divisional clubs. He called on the Gambia public to come out in their numbers to cheer up the teams at the Independence Stadium.
Linguere will be led to Banjul by Amara Trawally, former technician of the Terenga Lions.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s friendly match has propelled the Organising Committee of The Gambia Football Association to reschedule Hawks’ Saturday league tie against Gamtel as well as Sunday’s derby match between Bakau United and Steve Biko.
Hawks started their 2008 league campaign with a thrilling goalless draw against the Division One newcomers, Interior, on Tuesday.
