GPA Frustration

Monday, March 10, 2008

Editor,

Allow me space to express my unimaginable frustration with the GPA, Gambia port Authority. First of all am a Gambian citizen residing in the United Kingdom, three weeks ago I shipped a motor vehicle to my beloved country, in it a lot of valuable items …

Mr. Konteh, UK

Editor’s Note:

Mr. Konteh, we sympathise with your loss, but we cannot lay a general blame on the GPA. I think your experience may be due to the fact that you put valuable items inside a car – and we don’t in such circumstances even know where the car doors were opened and the items stolen. You are aware, I am sure, of the big thefts from posted letters in UK itself.

Your items could have been stolen even before they left London, or at all the ports on the way where the ship stopped before it reached Banjul. Can I add that last year I shipped two well-secured carton boxes, meter by meter square, from Manchester and they arrived absolutely intact. But I am  sure GPA bosses will take note of your concerns.
