IBC Sets New Standards

The International Bank for Commerce (IBC) in their stride to moving the Bank from where it was has changed the Management and the management in turn is poised to effect beneficial changes to making the Bank the most outstanding among Gambian Banks. The IBC among other Banks had all its workers and customers working to move the Bank forward. The new Management has vowed to make the Bank an exemplary Bank among others. In a more formidable approach the new management gathered stakeholders  recently at the Sun Beach Hotel at Cape Point for a cocktail and to enlighten and strengthen the relationship between their partners and potential partners assuring them of the best standard and improvement in their financial situation especially those who Bank with them. Their standards would not be comparable the management has asked for patience from their customers for a few months to come.

Mr. Chuks Chibundu, the new Managing Director of the International Bank for Commerce is a 42 year old Nigerian who has 14 years experience in Co-Banking and has worked in the areas of Commercial Banking, Retail Banking and Cooperate Investment Bank. His latest responsibility before coming to take over the IBC management was Regional Director for South South of the Bank. His Platinum Habib Bank is the 7th best of about 24 Banks in Nigeria, a symbol of what he intends to the make the IBC into.

At the reception he hosted at the Sun Beach Hotel for stakeholders, addressing the dignitaries, Mr. Chucks Chibundu, Managing Director of IBC thanked dignitaries. “We have you at the bottom of our hearts as our valued customers for always being there. Your support has grown against all odds.” Mr. Chibundu said.

He said IBC is going through a face lift for their customers. He said, “We are going to take IBC to what all of you would be proud of. It is going to remain the best Bank in The Gambia.” Chuks said they are going to take the IBC to the best standard in The Gambia “as far as I am concern, there is no competition in The Gambia.” Chuks said. He has reiterated that it is a new dawn the partners should be patient with them for the 1st 2nd and 3rd months. He says, “We are going be your partners and not customers. I know your needs, we have a challenge we would be there and it is your Bank be assured we are there for you.”

“The team coming to the IBC is a new team coming from Platinum Habib Bank. The culture, the way we do things will remain the same.” Chuks assured customers. Platinum Habib Bank is the 7th Best Bank in Nigeria and it will make the IBC the best in The Gambia.

Many stakeholders at the reception were dedicated to the IBC, some of whom I spoke to expressed satisfaction for a good start. Many said the situation looks good for the Bank. One of the stakeholders who prefer to remain anonymous said he has been a customer with the IBC for nearly 20 years now and has vowed to continue since a new management has taken over who has vowed to “improve our financial powers.” This is great and we need to encourage them so as to let their sweet dreams come true for us and the Bank.

The new management changed hands with the previous management of the IBC in December and the management started work in earnest about a month ago. “We are going to retain all our Gambian staff. Mr. Chuks Chibundu has recognized that the Bank needs expansion to enhance a better performance. As a result we are poised to engage the staff in training and retraining.” Chuks said they are aware of the support given to the IBC over the years, “we are going to continue to do more. We are here to assure and take you to higher heights in your business. “The ICB Bank intends to bring its expertise and financial capacity to support the growth of The Gambian economy and the good economic initiative of President Jammeh.

Mr. Chuks Chibundu has said that they were here to create a new Banking experience for the people of The Gambia. “With the new service experience we hope to touch the life of The Gambian people positively.” Manager Chibundu said.

Hon Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay, Speaker of the House of Assembly with several other dignitaries and top businessmen and women were among those present at the Cocktail in honour of International Bank for Commerce Ltd. Esteemed Stakeholders at the Sun Beach Hotel and Resort with members of staff from the Bank.
