Friday, March 14, 2008

The Gambia Senior Muslim School recently organised a talent show on the school premises. The programme was geared towards promoting tourism fundamentals for over 1,000 students from different schools.

The show was spearheaded by a committee in the school and prizes included scholarships for the participants.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Roland Edet, a member of the committee, said the school is planning to launch a tourism club in the school. This will help to foster the promotion of tourism among students.

Interesting questions pertaining to how students can contribute to tourism and how the problems of harassment and “bumstering” can be addressed. Other speakers included Mr. Hamzat, a teacher at the school, who advised other schools to follow their example in this initiative.
