30 Home Based Players Line Up For Nations Cup Qualifiers

The Gambia Football Association has released a list of 30 home based players in preparation for the preliminary round of the CAF Nation Cup Championship.

President of The Gambia Football Association, Seedy MB Kinteh, informed Pointsports that as part of preparations for the qualifiers, a list of thirty locally based players has been released by the FA. These players were to report for training this morning at the Independence Stadium.

The team will be under the guidance of the Egyptian Technical Assistant Tarik Siagy with Gambian Coach Lamin Sarr.

The 1st Edition of CAF African Nations Championship, meant to showcase locally based players from around the continent, will take place in Côte d’Ivoire in 2009.

In the preliminary draw of the championship, The Gambia has been drawn together with Mauritania. In an encounter which is slated for the either the 28th 29th or 30th of March 2008 in Banjul.

The second leg will be played in Mauritania on the either the 11th, 12th or 13th of April.

A friendly match was proposed for both teams on March 26th, 2008 in Banjul, but the friendly will now be a real game, as both teams will be battling for a place in the second round of the qualifiers.

14. Dimingo Manneh    -           Africell/Sait Matty

15. Modou Lamin Sillah -         Wallidan
