False Pretences Land Man in Court

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

The case of one Lamin Manneh on charges of obtaining money by false pretences has gone to trial.

Manneh was lately arraigned before Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara on suspicion of receiving D1,500 from one Musa Komma on the pretext of giving it to a Marabout who can help solve Musa’s troubles.

“Lamin told me that his grandfather is a Marabout and could help me with a medicine. Since the money was handed over to him, he disappeared into thin air but was later seen somewhere in Wellingara where the police arrested him,” Musa narrated.

After the testimony of the plaintiff, Lamin admitted guilt, begged the court to show him grace and forgive him. He also asked Musa to do him a favour by allowing him to pay the money in instalments since he was unwell.

The case continues.
