AFRICELL supports youth group on community cleansing

Bill Clinton Youth Association, a Gambian registered Community group recently embarked on a massive community clean-up exercise.

The series of clean-up exercise backed up by Africell Company Ltd, took the human youth volunteer association to a number of places such as the Gambia Radio and Televission Services (GRTS), Royal Victorial Teaching Hospital (RVTH) and Kachikally Sacred Crocodile Pool in Bakau.

The clean up exercise is part of the youth association’s objectives geared towards promotion,development and preservation of healthy and clean environment throughout The Gambia, especially in communities where they operate.

Kawsu Jaiteh, coordinator of the Bill Clinton Youth Association talked to the Daily Observer at the site in Kachikally, spoke at length on the aims and objectives of the youth association, noting that the association wanted to promote the ideas of living in a clean and healthy environment.

According to him, the cleansing exercise was part of their contribution towards the development, promotion and preservation of the spirit of tourism in The Gambia. He noted that Kachikally Crocodile Pool is an important tourist attraction in the country. “Cleaning the site meant contributing towards the sustainance of tourism development in the country” he said.

For his part, Alhagie Babou Jallow, Public Relation Officer of the Bill Clinton Youth Association, expressed appreciation to Africell Company over what he called their invaluable support and sponsor in the cleansing exercise.

Mr Jallow maintained that, membership of the youth association has no restriction, its open to all Gambians and none Gambian alike.
