The CEO of XYZ Agency cum organizer of Miss Africa Queen, Zynab Ayesha Passah, recently left Banjul for Accra following a ten-day visit to The Gambia.

The organizer of Miss Africa Queen was in Banjul to, inter alia, smoothen the ground for a successful organization of Miss Africa Queen Pageant in The Gambia come 2009.

“I’m basically here to facilitate and make sure that Miss Africa Queen Pageant is held in Banjul but it was later realized that it could not be held this year owing to time constraints. However, a local organizing committee has been set up to stage the event in The Gambia,”Zynab told Entertainment in an exclusive interview at the exquisite Seaview Garden Hotel.

During her visit to the Smiling Coast, the Ghanaian-born Miss Africa Queen Pageant organizer took time out to hold a meeting at the office of the permanent secretary, Office of the Vice President. The meeting, chaired by Adou Lette-Sy, CEO of Tivaoune Couture and Linguere Magazine, had decided that the pageant would instead be held on 3 June 2009.

Miss Africa Queen is a beauty pageant like any other but it emphasizes the true African woman and beauty. Everything about it is African as it allows the African values, cultures and traditions to bear on one platform.

According to Zynab, one of the social responsibilities of the pageant is to combat diseases that are plaguing women and children. “ We are advocating for the eradication of Sickle Cell anaemia. This is one of the diseases affecting the African child and woman,” she emphasized.

“We are also advocating for peace in Africa, which is very dear to the heart of the Gambian leader. Let’s stop the wars and strive towards building a more peaceful Africa. The Gambian president has also tasked us to be ambassadors of peace because there cannot be any desirable growth without peace.”

Meanwhile, she thanked President Jammeh for showing keen interest in Miss Africa Queen Pageant.
