Gambian international, Mustapha Jarju, commonly known as Toubabo, has left his Belgian Division Two side, Lierse,  to sign a three-year deal with RAEC Mons, a First Division side in the same country, Observer Sports has gathered.

The 22-year-old crafted midfielder, who was Lierse’s top scorer this season on 15 goals, was offered a five-year deal by Lierse after the completion of his two-year deal.

However, the former Wallidan and Steve Biko ace, who was being courted by other big guns, decided to switch to the flight after Lierse failed to earn a promotion.

A statement monitored at Lierse official website says: ”Our top scorer this season, Mustapha Jarju, left the club on Friday afternoon to sign for RAEC Mons”.

“He is out of contract, and he offered a 5-year extension, but he decided to move on. The club wish him many success in the further course of his career,” the release concluded.

Mustapha Jarju and his former team-mate, Assan Jatta, joined SK Lierse in September 2006 from Steve Biko. While Assan Jatta failed to adapt to life at the club, Jarju quickly established himself as one of the club’s best-ever signings.
