Paul Put to coach Gambia

Monday, May 19, 2008
The Gambia Football Association will officially unveil Belgian Paul Put as Scorpions head coach today at a signing ceremony to be held at President Jammeh Joint Officers’ Mess at Kotu, at 16.00 hours, Observer Sports can reveal.

The 52-year-old Belgian has been Gambia’s main target for the past three weeks, but the sports department’s reluctance to endorse his signing delayed his arrival.

The former SK Lierse coach will have less than two weeks to prepare the Scorpions for their trip to Liberia for Group Six opener in the 2010 World Cup qualifier that doubles as qualifier for Angola 2010 Nations Cup finals.

There is no official confirmation of who will shoulder the bill for the services Paul Put,  but Observer Sports has gathered that Africell, one of the leading mobile phone companies in the country, is willing to foot the bills.
