Over 20 P.E Teachers Certified in sports Administration

Over 20 Higher Teacher Certificate, Physical Education, Major Teachers Trainees were on Friday awarded certificates after successfully completing a course on sports administration.

The five-day training, held at Gambia College in Brikama, was organised by The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) with support from the Olympic Solidarity.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Lamin Sanneh Governor Western Region and also a course Director described sports as an avenue that can foster unity among people.

He congratulated the participants for successfully completing the course.

Mr. Fred Lloyd-Evans, the second vice president of GNOC, said that one of the objective of their organisation is to help develop sports in the country. One way of doing this, he said, is by building the capacity of sports men and women in sports administration. He advised the participants to make the best use of the skills and knowledge learnt from the course. He encouraged them to also do their utmost towards the improvement of sports in the country.

Mrs. Isatou Ndow, Head School of Education Gambia College deputising the secretary of State for Basic and Secondary Education, commended the organisers for the initiative. She challenged the participants to put the skills acquired from the course into action in their various schools. She said that if they are to cover the module learnt during the course at the college it will take them for a whole term thus thanked GNOC for complementing their efforts.

Majabou Gaye and Lamin A. Darboe, both participants, thanked GNOC and their partners for broaden their knowledge in the field of sports.

Mr. Alieu Cham, Executive Secretary National Sports Council, who chaired the occasion, urged the participants to make the best use of the P.E training provided to them at the college. He assured them of his offices support. “As first batch of P.E teachers it’s a challenge for you,” he said.
