Gambia international, Mustapha Jarju, commonly known as Toubabo, assisted one goal and scored another as his Belgian side, RAEC Mons, beat former champions Racing Genk 3-1 on Sunday to put behind their shock 5-0 defeat to La Gantoise in the league opener last week.
A fascinating second-half strike from the former Steve Biko and SK Lierse mid-fielder marked his first goal of the league since he joined the Dragons on a three-year contract at the end of last season.
Buoyed up by a vociferous home crowd, RAEC Mons broke the deadlock in the 7th when their French striker Mohamed Dahmane opened the scoring.
Toubabo, who has had a fantastic pre-season campaign, which saw him score scored 11 goals in nine pre-season matches, set up forward Dahmane for his second of the day in the 39th minute and nine minutes into the second interval, the mesmeric Gambian international fired in his league opener to confirm Mons first win of the season.
Up next for Toubabo and Mons is a weekend trip to Cercle Brugge, who were mauled 2-1 by Ebrima Sawaneh's KVK at the weekend.
