Thursday, September 11, 2008

Kemoto, a village in Kiang West District of at least 300 residents, was recently hit by acute water shortage, reliable sources have disclosed to the Daily Observer.

According to sources, salt intrusion into the village wells has resulted to the acute water shortage.

Abdoulie Sanneh, a resident of the village, said Kemoto villagers walk a distance of 5km to fetch drinkable water.

“Villagers use donkey carts to get fresh water and if urgent action is not taken, it will result to some villagers migrating from Kemoto,” he said.
Persons or organisations willing to help, can contact Mr Sanneh on 734 7303.
