The Arab Gambian Islamic Bank (AGIB) last Friday presented a cheque for D50,000 to the Presidential Treatment Programme.

Dr Tamsir Mbowe, managing director of the Presidential Treatment Programme received the gesture on behalf of the programme at a ceremony held at the AGIB head office in Banjul. Presenting the cheque, Zakaria Abubacar, the managing director of AGIB, said any company that is working within the society, is obliged to give back to the people. He noted that in any society, there are some who  are less privileged and as such, need assistance.

According to him, this presentation came as a result of the positive impact of President Jammeh’s treatment since its inception.  He used the occasion to thank Professor Jammeh for the humanitarian assistance as well as Dr. Tamsir Mbowe and staff of the treatment programme for their support. Receiving the cheque, the director general of the Presidential Treatment Programme, Dr. Tamsir Mbowe, expressed delight and appreciation to AGIB for the laudable gesture. He on behalf of the Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh,  saluted the bank for the good initiative.

According to Dr Mbowe, health is not everything but nothing is possible without health.  He then described the gesture as something that will go a long way in supporting the patients who undergo the treatment programme and thanked AGIB for their support. For his part, Mamut Jagne, former managing director of AGIB described his bank as an institution that is geared towards helping the needy and poor people.

He cited the number of scholarships the bank offers annually and assured that they will keep up the momentum. He also hailed President Jammeh and the staff of the treatment programme and assured of his bank’s support.
