Bail for kidnappers

Thursday, December 18, 2008
The Honourable Master of the High Court Aminata Saho Ceesay who is overseeing the Bundung Magistrates Court on behalf of Acting Principal Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara has granted the appeal made by Okenuwa Ikechukwu Prince and Benjamin George, first and second accused in the ongoing kidnap case before the court.

Okenuwa Ikechukwu Prince had pleaded and made an appeal to the court to grant him and the second accused bail. Inspector Jahateh, the prosecutor, objected to the bail application in their first appearance in the court on the grounds that they might sneak out of the jurisdiction.

The court however granted the duo bail in the sum of D100,000 with a Gambia surety each. The accused persons must also tender their passports to the court. The case was adjourned to Monday 22 December 2008 for the prosecution to open his case.

It could be recalled that Okenuwa Ikechukwu Prince, Benjamin George and Fatou Sarr are charged with conspiring on 6 November 2008 at Brusubi to secretly abduct and confine one Abdallah Wadani, a Moroccan.
