The DA Schooling Fund, a Brikama based NGO recently donated Four Thousand dalasi to disaster victims through the Vice President Aja Dr. Isatou Njie Saidy, Chairperson of the National Disaster Management Committee.
DA Schooling Fund, headed by Ebou Bah on behalf of his NGO presented the said amount to the Vice President at a ceremony held at her office in Banjul.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Vice President on behalf of his Excellency President Yayah AJJ Jammeh and the government of The Gambia extended her gratitude to Ebou Bah and his NGO and donors for their generosity towards the needy of society.
According to the Vice President, the rain pattern has changed. “In the past especially in the 60s, we had heavy down pour of rain and as time went by, there was draught and today the rain pattern is repeating. Some houses on waterways and others have been washed away”, she said.
She added “We are aware that DA Schooling is facing financial crises and they are not alone, there is food crisis, rain and more but God will surely help us all”.
For his part, Ebou Bah, the Manager of DA Schooling said his organisation stands to help the poor. “We have been helping school children, we help those who cannot pay bills for their eye operation and have built school and continue to help in other spheres”, he said. According to Ebou Bah, the global financial crisis is affecting his organization as they have a cut down from their donors. He however added that his organization is committed to serving the needy. “Those affected are my brothers and sisters,” he said.
