A team composed of doctors over the weekend defeated the lawyers 3-2 in the maiden edition of the May Day football friendly organised as part of activities marking the 19th edition of May Day Sports at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium.

The Lawyers opened the scoring through striker Assan Martin in the 14th minute of the game.

The doctors, who were determined and hungry for an equalizer, leveled the scores through Ebrima Jallow in the 19th minute and the first half ended 1-1.

The score line turned in favour of the doctors in the 44th and 47th minutes through Dr Madanneh Ceesay and Amadou Jallow.

According to the GNOC, doctors and lawyers have not been doing enough in sports because of their busy schedules and they hope to establish this match as an annual event which will help to encourage them to participate more in sports in order to keep fit.
